Giving My Outfit a Girly Touch With My Pink Pashmina

posted on 11 January 2012

I love wearing pink pashminas: hot pink, soft romantic pink, rose petal pink. Pink is such a girly colour which brightens up the rest of my outfit. When describing my body in polite terms, words such as voluptuous and generous come to mind. This is why most of my clothes are dark, ample and covering. I tend to wear mostly black and grey in several layers to hide some of the contours of my figure. A beautiful pink pashmina rolled together around my neck, hanging loose down my front or covering my shoulders as a shawl adds a beautiful touch of colour. On “bad hair days” when I feel a little daring, I will even wrap a smaller pink pashmina around my head to hold back my hair. This together with a pair of long dangly earrings has an amazing sparkling effect. My pink pashminas make me feel girly and cheer up my mood as I celebrate my feminine attributes.

The Vast Power of the Shoe

posted on 23 December 2011

Just like most other twenty-something women, I'm the shoe's greatest fan. Sure, I love other accessories like my floral pattern handbag and pashminas I own, but it's my shoes I love the most. What starts out as a drab and ordinary outfit can be drastically changed with the right pair of shoes. Though I cannot claim to have a collection of 2000+ pairs like certain celebrities in our midst, I am certainly on my way. This year my new favourite pair of shoes was a vintage pair of flat, black suede thigh high boot found in a wonderful little vintage Parisien boutique. When worn with jeans and a casual t-shirt they make for perfect day wear but then add them to an evening outfit and I'm in 70's retro heaven! Not only are these boots the most comfortable pair of shoes that I have ever owner, they attract compliments from passers by every time I leave the house wearing them. As far as I’m concerned, it’s the best 20 euros I ever spent!

Oh How My Two Friends Still Laugh at Me

posted on 8 December 2011

About eight years ago two of my friends had a serious house fire and they stayed with me for months while their home was repaired. One of their surprises when they took over my master bedroom was what they saw on the walk-in closet shelves: I had stocked them with apparently random objects, each in multiple quantities. My friends could not decipher the meaning of what they saw, and finally asked me. “Oh, that’s gift world,” I told them. As I went on to explain that when I find great items at great prices, I stock the shelves, they began to crack up. Everything from fancy paperclips to jewellery I made with jewellery making supplies, to remaindered books to vases and small electronics can serve as a stocking-stuffer or in-a-pinch birthday present. My friends are still laughing at me, but there is always something in my gift world to meet the sudden realization that I have forgotten someone’s anniversary or left someone else off my Christmas list. What do I buy for those closet shelves? Just about anything: Tonight I hit the office products clearance pile and scored really big. Try this kind of shopping: Your friends may laugh at you if they discover your secret stash, but you’ll always be ready for giving a gift!

Harry Potter's the Ultimate Fancy Dress Costume

posted on 27 November 2011

When it comes to fancy dress costumes, I would dress up as Harry Potter because he is the character that has captured the imaginations of millions of people not only kids but adults too. I would dress up in the mysterious uniform of Hogwarts students and show off my magic spells to my friends, and of course the movie was also cleverly made as they have made 8 movies out of it,I thought that the way they way they made it way very cleaver and the movie left you on a cliffhanger every time. I would also pick him because the uniform is dark and not as "stand out" as any other character so you can remain casual with still going to the party and looking good. Harry Potter's clothing is light so its not heavy to carry around. I recommend this character because he is well know and you will look good in it. Harry Potter's uniform is quite cheap if you know where to look amazon is a good place to start.

The Dress: My Favourite Fashion Item

posted on 25 November 2011

Last week I had a coffee with one of my friends. She had just bought a beautiful scarf - blue on pink flowers. She seemed so happy while showing it to me. I had never seen her wearing a scarf, even in the winter. But she told me that she is obsessed with scarves and has hundreds of them, all kinds of them. When I got home I opened my wardrobe and started exploring my clothes. Do I have in hundreds something that I don't really wear so often? Well, I have 45 dresses at the moment - different kinds, different colours - from DesignSix dresses to handmade ones! Maybe it's too much, but I not only like them, I love every each of them, I remember when, from where and why I bought every each of them, I remember even most of the times I had worn them. And I wear them a lot. I thing that they are not only beautiful and elegant, but also quite practical. I can wear only a dress, a dress with a jacket(with different kinds of jackets), with a coat, with a shirt, with a sweater and even with jeans. I can always experiment and every time my dress will look different even if I change only my shoes. I definitely think that the dress is the most practical and elegant fashion item. Actually, I just decide to go out shopping for my next beautiful dress.

About My First Radley Handbag

posted on 21 October 2011

My favourite handbag is the first bag which my husband bought for me nearly ten years ago. Most women would agree that picking a handbag is a very personal task and most husbands would be scared to risk buying one without some very clear 'buying signals'. It doesn't matter if you're browsing pink clutch bags or black satchels, the buying decision process is very sutble. Gentle clues are wasted – if you want the right bag, most women will tell you that you've got to forget subtlety and make it really easy. Unless their partner stands right next to the bag they want and saying very clearly “THIS is the bag I want”, most men would be terrified of getting the wrong one. My husband had booked a weekend away for my birthday in a country B&B in Suffolk. I thought the weekend was my present until he pulled out a big parcel containing my bag. It was a beautiful big Radley handbag in black leather with a burgundy trim. It was a brand I knew of but had never owned because I thought they were too expensive. He'd paid attention to my grumbles about other bags and knew what I needed probably better than I did. The bag needed to be big because I carry the world over my shoulder, should have some internal structure like pockets and divided sections but not so many that I'd never be able to find anything, and finally it had to have a light coloured lining. There's nothing frustrates me more than trying to find one of a dozen black items in a bag with a black lining. The bag he chose hit the mark on all criteria and was probably my first introduction to the idea of spending good money on bags. Luckily I gave all the right signals of gratitude and enthusiasm and my husband continued to buy me bags for birthdays and Christmas. He's not picked a bad one yet in nearly ten years.

These Boots are Made for This Coming Winter

posted on 11 October 2011

Nancy Sinatra may have famously sung that her boots were 'made for walking' but when the warm summer days are behind us and we start the inexorable descent into the colder weather of autumn and winter, there's one small consolation it's time to get our snug boots out of the wardrobe and prepare for the cooler days. Whether solid and dependable or sky-high and precarious, women love to wear boots and I am no exception. I have problematic feet which have ludicrously high insteps and are very narrow. All the funky designer strappy sandals of summer are wasted on me because I need a lot of help to keep my shoes on my feet. Added to this I have no sense of balance and have always been too tall to need heels. Forget little ballerina pumps that fall off or flip flops that fly off and require hammer toes to keep them in place, my boots are my friends and every pair of the eight or nine options in my wardrobe is loved and brought out year after year. Long boots keep your legs toasty warm, enable you to avoid worrying about hairy calves and cover up a multitude of sins. With skinny jeans tucked in or boot-cut flared over, long boots look great through the colder months. Ankle high boots give you a bit more flexibility and can give the benefit of longer boots, such as warm secure feet, without the risk of sweaty legs.

They Call Them Classics Because That's What They Are

posted on 30 August 2011

It's taken me a while to come to this conclusion, but my favorite shoes are Reebok Classics – suede, not vinyl. I first discovered them as a high schooler back in the 1990s. They came out in a wide variety of colors, and I kept buying them. I liked them because they were affordable (paying ridiculous amounts of money for something to go on your feat is just that... ridiculous. Shoes have a hard life, and while I understand wanting high quality, I never understood the idea of paying close to or over $100 for shoes), not too flashy (I also never understood the thrill of having a super-complicated design on your shoes. They're going to get dirty.) At one point I had four pair all black, red with white trim, blue with white trim and a sweet pair of all teal ones. I wore them constantly, always making sure to coordinate my outfit around whichever pair I was wearing at the time. I had a classmate who also had multiple pairs, and whenever we'd get some new ones, we'd find each other and show off. He had a pair of all brown ones I loved! They went away for a while, but I have recently discovered them again. I can’t find them in as many colors, but I have two pair all white (my first pair of white shoes since I was in elementary school.) and black with white trim. You can still find them in super bright colors, but you have to order them online, and I still can’t pay a whole bunch for shoes. But there is an amazing all-gray pair I have my eye on. Maybe one day I will break down and make them mine.

Pearl necklace

posted on 19 February 2011

The pearls in a necklace can be all the same size or they can be graduated with the smaller pearls at the back and the larger ones in the middle at the front. This form can be very pleasing to the eye. Perhaps the most important thing for the overall aesthetic effect of the necklace is the matching of the pearls. Although a matter of personal taste there is some tradition in the size of pearls which are thought to be appropriate for women of various ages. For example smaller pearls are thought to be ideal for younger girls and teenagers. Pearls of around 6.5 – 8mm would be worn by women in their 20s and early 30s to show they had ‘grown up’ but were not too immodest. Larger pearls of 8 – 9mm are thought to show an aura of status and class and so would be worn by older women , perhaps in their 40s. Even larger pearls than this would once only have been worn by older ladies who had achieved a certain standard in life. However with the advent of much more affordable freshwater pearl jewellery these traditions are somewhat outdated because beautiful large pearls can be bought for much more modest sums.

My Husband Proposed To Me in Lumbini Park

posted on 5 October 2010

My favorite local park is Lumbini Park in India, and indeed my husband proposed to me there, offering me a wonderful engagement ring with princess diamonds - an event I'll never forget. It is a nice park with a lot of trees in it. The musical fountain show is very famous in this park which is held every Saturday. There are four gates available to you in this park. This is a park in which you can find a lot of grass and you can find swingers for children to play with. You can go to the park with friends, family and your subordinates. This is a beautiful park in which you can find a lawn tennis ground. There is a lot of space available to you to play cricket, football, hockey and tennis. Lumbini Park is famous for its musical fountain show. When the music plays the colorful fountains are made to dance. There are a lot of Ashoka trees you see in this park

Some Primer Tips on Becoming a Fashionable Woman

posted on 12 August 2010

Women can become fashionable in two ways. One is by their physical appearance - using anything from sexy lingerie to lipstick to high-heels as "dress to impress" tactics - and the other is by their way of speaking and behaviors. There is a saying “Clothes make a man perfect”. Make you look fashionable by identifying the shape of your body and choosing the clothes accordingly. While choosing clothing, the color of the cloth also matters. Some colors suit you well and make you glow. So, choose the color that make you look bright and avoid the colors that make you look drained. Wearing the same kinds of clothing may bore you. So, try some new things once in a while. The important fashion items are handbags. These handbags have become an essential one for the women, as you can keep all the necessary items inside. Handbag manufacturers have been crushing their brain to bring varieties that attract women. There are also other fashion items like jewels, slippers, ear rings and so on. Choosing the right one will make you look modern.
